Danish Casting Games

Floyd Franke, active member of the Federation of Fly Fishers, originated the Danish Casting Game to honor Poul Jorgensen. Both desired to create a casting game that was fun and educational. Nine casting stations present twelve casting challenges similar to real time fishing. One can play the game competitively or non-competitively.

Station #1 – Moon Shoot
Make your first cast to the ring. Walk to where the fly landed and make your second cast to the ring. (Score only your second cast)

Station #2 – Tight Loop
Cast to a ring that is five feet above the ground. The fly must pass through the ring and land on the ground on the other side of the ring.

Station #3 – Limbo
Cast to a ring that has an obstruction three feet above the ground and in front of it.

Station #4 – Ambidextrous Right & Left
Cast to the ring with the right hand. Cast to the ring with the left hand.

Station #5 – Vespers
Cast to the ring with both knees on the ground.

Station #6 – Straight & Narrow
Cast to the ring between the ropes. The line cannot touch the rope on either side. Cast to the ring again and the line must touch the rope on both sides.

Station # 7 – Double Trouble Right & Left
Cast positive curved cast (curves to left) to a ring that has an obstacle 4 feet in front of it. Cast again using negative curved cast (curved to right).

Station #8 – Reach Cast
Cast to a ring and reach to the right or left.

Station #9 – Salt Water Cast
Cast to a ring from a platform starting with the fly in hand and using 3 false casts.
